● Get the medicines explained at the time of discharge.
● Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without doctor’s advice.

● Continue using the chest belt for 3 months.
● Do not apply anything without doctor’s advice
● You can take a bath if your wound is dry and healing. A gentle wash
is allowed, but do not scrub the wound.
● Slight itching, tingling numbness at incision are normal.
● In case of swelling on legs sit and sleep with your feet at a higher
level.
● Consult your doctor if redness,swelling or warmth around the incision
increases and discharge from the wound.
● Avoid bending down and lifting heavy load.

● Continue doing physiotherapy exercises as instructed in hospital.
● Spirometry and breathing exercises are compulsory.
● Start taking limited walks in the morning and evening and gradually
increase it by 5-5 minutes to reach a 30 minute walk at the end of one
month.
● Space your activities allowing time to rest if you get tired.
● You can start your routine activities at the end of one month if you
feel comfortable.
● Take adequate sleep in the afternoon and night.
● Avoid pulling, pushing and lifting objects more than 5 kgs
● Avoid driving two and four wheelers atleast for 3 months.

● There might be reduced appetite in the initial period but adequate diet
will give you strength.
● Limit the use of oil, ghee and butter.
● Avoid bakery products.
● All non veg items are allowed except red meat.
● Strict no to alcohol, tobacco and smoking.
● Diabetic patients should follow diabetic diet, monitor blood sugar
levels and watch for signs of hypoglycemia.
